I'm in dire need of female advice right now..
I'm 42 years old. I had a light period on Oct 15th and then I started bleeding again on Oct 30th.. I didn't think anything of it except that it was very light for 3 days. Light 4 day periods are the norm when I'm on the pill but I am not. Usually I have about a 5 day period starts light, then a little heavier, no clots then it gets light again. Well not this time. This has never happened to me before and I don't have any females in my family that I can ask about this stuff so here I am.
As I said, I started bleeding on Oct 30th it was very light for 3 days, no cramps.
Late on Nov 3rd, it started to be a little more normal and a little crampy... then the next day (4th)I started getting sharp pains and I was bleeding very very heavy... I was changing tampons and pads every 10 min. to an hour... for about 7 hours. I was bleeding right through the tampons.. yeah this is gross but I would sit on the toliet and the blood was pouring out... sounded like I was urinatingm the sharp pain continued. I started to get clots (which I never get), first one was bright red about the size of a half dollar, I got smaller ones as well, I got a few the size of a half dollar but the rest were darker. I developed a fever of 102... became really lightheaded. I didn't have a ride to the hospital or my doctor so I went to bed. Then next day (5th) bleeding was normal but still a lot of cramping, some clots, still lightheaded and a slight fever. I noticed one of the clots looked a little strange, grayish and a different consistancy.. ewwww. I am so grossed out even typing this... thanks to anyone who has read up to here. lol
Oh, the bleeding was and is... bright red.
Now today is the 9th and I'm still bleeding, it's light, tiny clots here and there... no fever, some cramping. Even though the worse is over I'm still worried about what it might be. I don't have transportation so I have to try to find a ride to the OB/GYN before I make an appointment.
I didn't know if what I was experiencing was an Emergency or not and I didn't want to call 911 to find out I was only having a bad period, it's embarrassing.
Anyone have any ideas on what I may be up against. Was I justified if I called 911 on the 4th?
It was a tough call for me, I was all alone with my 12 year old son and no transportation. My husband is no help.. he has no clue. ugh...
Please anyone, any advice... words of encouragement.. knowledge about what is normal and what isn't?
