First off earlier this year I started having UTi like symptoms; I have had UTIs before so I know the symptoms. My doctor treated the UTI with antibiotics, which fixed the issue. However, the symptoms kept returning. I just recently started dating a new guy so I was completely tested for all STDs and tested negative so that ruled those out! I was then referred to a urologist. After several visits I was continuously being told i had no visible bacteria. I was put on a long term antibiotic that works best when I drink lots of water. Recently, the antibiotic dosage had to be doubled and I even have to take two a day if the symptoms are really bad. They obviously get worse if I'm dehydrated, am drinking or intercourse. I beleive it must be some sort of bacteria otherwise the antibiotic would be ineffective. My symptoms are burning, not only when urinating, but sometimes almost constantly (when I'm dehydrated), soreness after sex, and if I'm very dehydrated i will get full UTI symptoms like the urge to go, burning, constant pain.... I drink mostly water about four and upwards glasses a day and hardly ever drink pop unless I'm drinking alcohol (as a mixer). I'm on birth control, and eat a relatively healthy diet.
My question is, has anyone else had this issue? I'm also looking for another urologist for a second opinion. I know something is wrong and I just want it fixed! Any info will help greatly!
