I'm comforted, yet saddened by all the threads in this forum. I've suffered from UTI for seven years now (I'm 20). It hasn't always been so frequent, but it's worsened through out the years. I have an episode at least 2-3 times a month. Sometimes I have extremely painful episodes and at times they are bearable. I'm very thankful for the short period of time that I don't have a UTI, with those short days I go and have a lovely time doing whatever. Most days I stay in with my boyfriend because it's really hard going out knowing I'll have the urge to urinate every 2 minutes. I take extra precautions; I drink plenty of water through the day, I wear cotton panties ( I no longer own fancy "sexy" underwear :o ), I try my best to wear loose fitting clothes (I own a lot of comfy dresses and sweats), I urinate before and after sex, I wash my nether regions and dry them immediately, and I try to stay away from caffeinated or sugared drinks. But alas, none of these keep UTI at bay. Doctors are no help, they've prescribed antibiotics, which throws my ph balance askew resulting in a yeast infection, so I'm left UTI and a yeast infection, worst of the worst.
I'm actually having an episode as I speak, it's not as painful, but still very annoying. I've lived with UTI for years and it is the worse, I can't handle it anymore. I ordered myself a tub of D-Mannose as some of you have suggested. I really hope it works because I don't know what else to do.
My boyfriend has been such a trooper and a great support. I hope -- to the ladies that posted before me -- that you have found a cure or a sense of normalcy. That you all no longer suffer from UTIs and I hope for the same results for myself. Take care ladies :)
