I got married 2 months ago. 3 days into the honeymoon, I got a UTI, was diagnosed by a doctor and given antibiotics. About a week after the antibiotics were over I still had low grade burning in my bladder and when I pee. I went back and the tests were negative. Also, it only burns if my pee is yellow. If I drink a lot of water and my pee is more clear, there is no pain. I don't have any other symptoms. Any ideas what could be wrong??

  • 8 days later, still burns a lot if I don't drink a ton of water, but no other symptoms and 2 urine tests have come back negative for infection. This is so weird. Please help!

  • I would think it posible that the UTI you had caused an inflamation of the cells, due to bacteria. If you get a pimple even when most of the infection is gone the skins stay inflammed for a while. You should notice it getting better each day after you got clear of the UTI. If it continues at the same level another week you might check if maybe you got a STD? Also, you might get cranberry tablets at the store which rinses the coating of the bladder (like soap) of bacteria, which would help keep the UTI at bay.

  • When your urine is darker, the amount of bacteria is also more, this would cause more irritation. This happens a lot to newly weds as your hubbie neutralizes your natural acidic state and bacteria from your **m gets into the bladder, etc. If it got bad before you got treatment, then maybe the inflammation is just taking time to go away. If you get a pimple even when most of the infection is gone the skin stays inflamed for a while. You should notice it getting better each day after you got clear of the UTI. It could be when they test for it you have flushed most of it out your urine, but it is hanging on to the inside of your bladder. If it continues, take in your morning rising urine sample… This was my reedited message.

  • It has now been 24 days since my original post. The pain during urination seems to be lessening, but very slowly. Could it possibly take more than 24 days for my body to heal from only irritation? This seems like such a long time.

  • Sounds to me like you could have thrush (from the antibiotics) same thing happened to me recently and after I teated myself for thrush (repeatedly every night for a week) it has gone away. Hopefully it might help.
