Got to go for a cystocopy - scared

I am a 39 year old male. In the last 12 months I have had 3 UTIs that have cleared up straight away with antibiotics.

The last one happened last week and it was accompanied by spots of blood and painful urination. I went to the doctor and he gave me antibiotics and less than 24 hours after it started it was fine again.

But he wants me to see a urologist now. I know it's the right thing but I'm really scared that I might have something serious, otherwise why would he send me?

Am I being ridiculous?

  • I had one once. I was awake, although I've heard that you can be put under for it. Anyhow, it was painful I hate to tell you. Felt like a seraded knife going in my urethra. The test only lasts about 2 minutes though. After voiding the solution, I felt pressure that went away after a bit. It did hurt to go though the rest of the day. Good luck!
