My 29 year old daughter has had ALL the testing....and everything has come back normal. BUT she has excessive BURPING...

She is on nexium and it's somewhat better..but she has pain above her heart...and burps ALL the time...

She's cut out soda.... doesn't eat after 7pm... NO spicy foods..
small meals through out the day..

She's down to 115 pounds...and feels terrible. The doctors must think it's "all in her head"..but something is NOT right...

Any Ideas?

  • My daughter switched jobs...and the stress level is much better...SHe's still on the nexium...and seems to be feeling better.. they did the scope down her throat...looking for signs of chrohn's disease..and everything came back normal.. Stress seems to be a HUGE factor here... and the nexium does seem to be working better than the protonic did.. To the 26 year old that posted... Are you dealing with a lot of stress in your life or job? MOM in Indiana

  • I do have alot of stress on my job, more recently stress has been related to all this testing. I have no appetite, weight loss, stomach is always nausea, shortness of breath and I burp all the time. My stool even appears to be different and I am having some urinary tract issues as well. Alot of people have been asking me about my stress level, I don't know if it can cause all this?

  • To the 26 year old posting.. Do you have any problems with your wisdom teeth? My daughter has/had 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed this weekend. We've been wondering if maybe these teeth may have played a part with all the digestive problems she's been experiencing? Mom in Indiana:confused:

I went to see the doctors many times and they said everything is normal. I even had CT scan and the results were OK.. I tried all types of medicines for "migraine" but it just keeps coming back... I have right-sided migraines with tension in the neck and shoulder, extending to the forehead with a bursting feeling in the eye. Jarring, light, and noise aggravate discomfort. My headaches improve after vomiting, as well as from burping. Usually, I burp whenever I feel pain from any part of my body (usually upper back, neck, upper arm and the head..) Whenever I try to massage the affected body part, I BURP out loud.. My officemates even call me "BURPAHOLIC"! i tried having antacids too but it just didn't work! Almost every week I don't go to work for a day coz I just can't get up from bed due to severe headache... I really don't know what to do with this..

  • You may have overgrowth of candida. Especially if you have had antibiotics without taking probiotics afterwards, even more so if you have had a few courses of antibiotics and have had a more sugary diet - like more carb and sugar. I had same belching and fullness, felt so weak at times and other times like I had flu... Doctors said fine, I said ahh, no! I finally saw a good health guru/nutritionist and went on an anti-candida diet. A lot of doctors refuse to accept that candida can be a problem in the intestines - though they are beginning to warm to the idea. After 1st weeks on anti-candida diet (no sugar, yeasts etc) and with a few supplements to support good bacteria growth (probiotics) I felt slightly worse. That's because the candida/yeast was dying off. The 2nd week I felt better. Then after a month I felt normal!!! This from a mom who when the kids just touched my back or arm, I would burp. They thought it hysterical but knew it made me so tired and nauseous. You can take anti-fungals for candida too, but sometimes that causes the yeast (candida) to die off so quickly you feel even more unwell. Attack it in stages with help from a good nutritionist/homeopath/naturopath or even health food store specialist.

  • i had the same problem. i was burping a lot and had heartburn (although i didnt know that's what it was at the time), my heart would race and i had trouble breathing sometimes. it was really painful and frightening. i was taking amoxicillin for my acne (relative of penicillin i think) and i wasnt drinking enough water with the tablet - just a small sip or sometimes no water at all. this was causing all the trouble. it stopped once i stopped taking the amox. and drank more water.dont know if that helps...

One amazing thing though is that when i get these headaches and my sister is around, she presses the pressure points on the soles of my feet (which hurt so much) and also massages my stomach with a pointed dull obnect like a stone (which is also painful and extremely uncomfortable because it makes me nauseous), but afterwards, from not being able to bear noise and light and not being able to function, I burp out huge amounts of gas and my headache's gone! Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

  • I am 39 and have the same burping problem. My girl friend suggested I take Multi-Vitamn since I have changed my diet and eating habits. Partly because of the burping but mainly for weight loss. So far the burping has subsided. Multi-vitamin maybe the solution to some of these problem.Good luck.Kelly in Carol stream

  • Well the multi-vitamin helped a little not all though. I am now checking to see if I am Lactose Intolorent. My diet lately has consisted on 2 SlimFast and one main meal. Perhaps the SlimFast is causing it. I'll keep you informed.

  • I thought i was the only one with this problem.I am 42 and when i was 27 i had my gallbladder removed and was pain free for a few years then every couple of months or so i would have an attack of severe pain just above my gallbladder scar with the exact same symptoms as gallstones (upper abdo pain going through to the back and excessive wind) but obviously i didnt have a gallbladder this has gone on for ten years now with the attacks getting more often' almost every day and i feel nauseas and bloated all the time. I burp constantly uncontrollably and people think i am rude.i have been treated for ulcers and stress but they dont seem to be the problem. what could it be?

  • I am new to this site, so not sure how to do this. I have suffered with chronic burping, nausea, and vomiting, for some time now. I keep trying to adjust what I eat or when, to try to have it not happen, but nothing seems to do any good. I am now going to make a doctors appointment to see if they can figure it out. I never used to have this problem. It is very upsetting as it makes me feel lousey and then, I don't feel like doing much. Also, it is bad for my marriage, as all too often, I want to be romantic with my husband, and then am burping and feeling like I am going to "toss cookies", and I simply cannot stand to have him do anything at all with me.If this was an occasional situation it wouldn't be too bad, but it is almost constant. I wish the doctors would figure out what is causing it, and "fix" it so I can get back to a "normal" life. I have tried every kind of antacid, pepcid, alka seltzer, there is, and they don't have any affect at all on it.:(

  • My son is 16 years old and he suffers from cyclic vomiting syndrome. After having recently braces he started to burp constantly. The dentist does not think it is to do with the braces but I am still suspecting because he was not burping before. He just use to vomit. This is in spite the fact that after a week he feel comfortable with the braces and use to it. The burping is so severe that I consider to have the braces out. Could anyone tell me if they know about any connections ( or came across ) between braces and burping.

  • I am 26 years old and also have been having this problem for about a year. Constant burping, some nausea and feeling like vomiting. A lot of stress in my life. Nexium and other drugs don't help much and I've had a gastrointestinal doctor examine me and don't have acid reflux. He said the next step is to try to treat it like Irritable Bowel Syndrome, only it's Irritable Esophogus.
