Blood in ejaculation.

Hello all,

I am a 21 year old male and last week I began experiencing blood in my ejaculation. Not more than a few drops, but I am worried. I am currently single, not sexually active aside from masturbation, and my two previous sexual partners are both free of STDs.

I recently read on these forums that -
Blood in the semen is called hematospermia. It is due to a tear in one of the fragile veins of the prostate gland. The blood in the urinae is from the same source. The prostate is the organ that produces the majority of the seminal fluid in response to sexual stimulation. Irritation of the gland (prostatitis) can cause it to become inflamed and predisposed to bleed.

As I am young and have masturbated on average every day since my last relationship ended 8 months ago (a possible correlation, I think so :)), and as I am in no pain, not even during ejaculation, I wonder if all this is nothing more serious than a case of over-masturbation and not a more serious case of, say, prostate cancer. As there is only a drop or two in my ejaculate, and as I do not have bloody urine, I wonder if this all might be fixed by laying off masturbation for a time.

My question is this - is this sort of thing a common result of over-masturbation, and is it possible to fix without going to see a doctor? I'm aware of the smart answer - go see a doctor anyway - but being a recalcitrant young man I want to see first if I can fix this without giving myself and my family unnecessary alarm.

Thank you,
