i have a friend whose tongue just started bleeding when we were eating ice cream. whenever she eats anything, it just starts to bleed quite a bit. she has no sores, inflammation, cuts, etc.. and no pain or swelling. she went to the doctor and they do not know why. her blood count and platelets are in the right range...any ideas

  • -------------------I don't know, but how about an allergy to some common food ingredient?I dont know but my tongue starts bleeding every night and now I have become anaemic. No sharp teeth or tongue bite are the causes in my case.I dont smoke and have reduced alcohol intake and spicy food is taboo now.If you find a cure then mail me.Sanjay gupta

  • Could be capillary weakness and natural treatments for spider veins may be usefull. Try horse chestnut, silica, vitamin c, colloidal minerals.

  • hi. I just went to the dentist today for the same thing. My tongue will start bleeding when i eat ice cream too. the dentist said I could have a food allergy to milk products or sugar. he said to lick a lollipop when i get home and see if it starts bleeding. It did.

  • I also have experienced this many times over the years. I believe in my case it is connected to problems with chronic yeast. Ice cream has a lot of sugar and may trigger the symptom. I opten get brain fog with the bleeding tongue.

  • I have this problem too and I am so worried about it. I have noticed it a lot, sometimes it looks like it is bleeding from one spot but sometimes it is little patches that are bleeding. I find it happens a lot when eating crisps but sometimes it is other foods too. Does anyone else suffer from this? I saw the doctor who said it was definitely not tongue cancer but he said he did not know what was causing it - it really scares me!

  • We have recently discovered that my husband has this problem too. I will ask him to pay attention to what he has eaten when this happens. I don't think it's been ice cream. He has not had time to go to the doctor yet, but the food allergy idea is at least a place to start. Thanks
