I went to the doctor and he didn't know what the problem was. Initially, it looked like I'd sliced my tonuge (no blood) and there was a ditch. Now a section looks like it's being 'eaten away'.... and near the back there is a bumpy darker red patch. From internet pictures, the smaller red patch looks similar to what a lot of people are calling a 'tongue ulcer' -- I really have no idea. It's been this way for a couple of weeks and appears to be getting bigger.
I have tried:

Avoiding high acid foods
I don't smoke or do any kind of tobacco.
