Thyroid Cancer or something else?

I am a 27 year old male with a feeling of fullness in right side of my neck. This has been going on and off for three years. Sometimes I notice it daily and sometimes I go months without noticing it. The lump is on the right side of my neck(not midline, more to the side). It seems as though it is almost even vertically, or just barely below my adams apple. Like between my adams apple and sternocleidomastoid. I can palpate this area on both sides of my neck and feel lumps. The one on the right is larger for sure. They both move up and down when swallowing. I can also move them both horizontaly with my fingertips. I can feel a slight "clicking" when moving the one on the right sometimes. Again, I have noticed this on and off for over three years. And I can honestly say that it doesnt nessecarily feel any bigger than when I first noticed it years ago.

I also have symptoms of hyperthyroidism. Heart rate at rest is approx 70-75. Have intolerence to heat. Anxiety. Difficulty concentrating. Heavy armpit sweating.

I guess, my questions are---- Is this my thyroid(it seems from literature thyroid is lower in neck and directly on midline)? If not, are there other tumors or lymph nodes that move up and down with swallowing? If cancerous wouldnt I notice it change in size in 3 years time?

I am going to the doctor this week if I can get in, but just hoping for an idea of what to expect. Any suggestions or help is appreciated.

  • Could be cancer, could be Graves, could be Hashimoto's, or could be a goiter from iodine defficency. It is not good to wait, so good thing you are getting tested. My thyroid fluctuates daily, and I am on thyroid meds. My problem is Hashi's, and I think I have a goiter, runs in the family. Hope you find something out soon. Good luck.
