Hypothyroid Misdiagnosis?

'Don't have the numbers at hand, but have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism and put on Synthroid. Male, late 50s, I exhibited NONE of the symptoms - wasn't tired, hadn't put on weight, etc., etc. All other physical issues (heart, cholestrol, exercise patterns, psa, and so forth) indicate excellent health - MD was adamant that I should go on Synthroid, forever, just because of the lab tests. Still miffed, and now wondering - what happens if I just give up the meds?
