I have been diagnosed as having hypothyroidism for 8 years. Everytime I go to the doctor they tweak my medication with no relief from my symptoms. I have numerous benign nodules on my thyroid and its somewhat enlarged. This last time that I went to the doctor my labs came back with my TSH at somewhere around 4.5 and my T4 at 19.7, both high. My previous endocrinologist liked to keep my TSH under 1. Anyway these labs are contradicting each other one indicates hyper and the other hypo. I've been on levothyroxine 137 mcg for about 8 months give or take (they are always changing my dose). I've gained at least 30 pounds, I'm tired all the time, and my vision keeps getting worse. I'm feeling pretty crappy. I'm a little confused by my labs and the only thing that I can think that it might be is that my body isn't converting my T4 treatment (levothyroxine0 to T3 so that my body can use it and it's stockpiling, but I'm not a doctor. I'm really getting irritated that my problem isn't getting fixed and would really appreciate some feedback and maybe some possible causes. I've searched and searched the internet but can't find anything. Thanks!Reply Follow This Thread Stop Following This Thread Flag this Discussion
