I have been reading this forum for almost a year and have learned a lot from everyone. I will make my story short and sweet but I do need advise please.

Diagnosed with hashimotos in September 06
Diagnosed with graves disease in July 07
Received RAI ( radioactive iodine pill ) on June 25th, 07

I am starting to feel better but I am not "cured" yet.

My blood tests this week were

T4 1.7
TSH 59.38

My endo wants to start me on the lowest dose possible of Synthroid ( or generic Levoxyl )

I feel I am not ready for this medication yet...I am still having symptoms of hyperactivity

Constant Hunger
Difficulty with climbing stairs, still become short of breath and legs feel weak
Some heart palpatations ( but less than before RAI )
Some diarrhea
I ZOOM around most of the day but pooped out by 8pm
Some memory concentration still
Lump in throat is much better but sides of neck are still a bit swollen
I can only work about 4-5 hours at my job and I am tired

The radiologist that administered the RAI pill told me on July 25th that I would most likely be in the hyper stage until around the second week of September and everything he has told me is holding true.

I have always been a "hyper-type" person with a fast metabolism, my father had hashiomotos and surgery removal of the thyroid, family history of diabetes too.

Does it sound like I am ready to begin replacement therapy?

  • http://www.freewebs.com/thyroid/I would suggest the above website for information and support. A great bunch of people there and there is a forum. Thyroid Disease Chat Center. You'll find many people with similar situations to yours.I've been to several support sites for thyroid disease and this is the only one with "real" people who are genuinely supportive and caring.
