I have been having the following symptoms for a while now and just been dealing with them in various ways but they seem to be getting slightly worse, after digging around a bit i have started suspecting it could be an underactive thyroid, the symptoms are:-

Cold hands and feet, especially the feet
Really dry skin on the face.
Not much colour in my face i.e. pale skin.
Tend to put weight on more in the face than anywhere else.
Low sex drive.
Anxiety/Nervousness (just in general when there is nothing to be worried about)
Slight depression.
Trouble concentrating, occasional brain fog
Heart palpitations
Just generally feeling pretty rubbish all together.
Have difficulty drifting off to sleep and touble waking up in the mornings.
Quite tired a lot of the time.
Shakey, especially after lifting weights or not eating for a few hours.

Recently I have had a blood presure test and they have found blood pressure to be low as well as my heart rate.

Not sure if they are all related or something completely different, such as I am not sure is anxiety or heart palpitations is a symptom of an underactive thyroid?

I have done some pretty extreme dieting in the past bordering on eating disorder so was thinking this could have messed up my thyroid, I eat fine now and haven't dieted in a long time.

  • Well It looks to me that you have a lot of the same symptoms I have had for years. I'm taking Synthroid since June 2008, at first I felt great, more energy, no joint pain, better sleep, no constipation, no shaky feelings after working out or not having food every four hours. The bad news is that after 4 or 5 months of synthroid some syntomps came back and I have a bad rash in my stomach. It really itches and does not go away. I have tried cortisone, natural remedies and now its spreading more and more.I read that maybe the white synthroid pill can help, I am gonna switch and hope it gets better.I dont know your age but please look for help as soon as possible. I am 48 now but everything started after I had my second child 18 years ago. Unfortunately I couldnt get a good doctor at that time that could diagnose my problems.
