Back in Feb 2011, I went to the Dr because the pain was so bad it was limiting movement in my hand to the point I could no longer type on a keyboard. Finger swelled up and had to remove rings. X-ray on hands and nothing broken, specialist said maybe torn ligament and recommended PT. After 8 months of no pain relief and I finally gave up. Dealt with the pain for another year before the neck pain got too intense I had to go in for that. Did X-ray and was determined to have a bulging disc. MRI results below.
PROCEDURE: MRI CERVICAL SPINE WITHOUT CONTRAST
FINDINGS: The visualized posterior fossa structures show no gross
abnormalities. The spinal cord is normal in signal. The paraspinal soft tissues
are unremarkable. Vertebral body heights are maintained. There is straightening of the normal cervical lordosis as can be seen with muscle strain or positioning. Bone marrow signal is unremarkable. There is mild disc space narrowing at C5-6 and diffuse disc desiccation is noted throughout the cervical spine.
At C5-6, there is broad-based and right paracentral posterior disc bulge. This
causes mild narrowing of the right lateral recess of the spinal canal. There is
no evidence of central spinal stenosis. No neural foraminal narrowing is
After months PT, nothing changed for the better and it actually got worse. Pain between the shoulder blades and now pain in my opposite hand.
XR THORACIC SPINE 3 VIEWS W SWIMMERS:
1. Vertebral body heights are maintained. No spondylolisthesis.
2. Mild degenerative disc disease change.
3. Slight levoconvex curvature of the thoracic spine.
After losing sensation down to my legs and years of sciatic pain, the dr now says I may have a herniated disc in my lower back as well. All this as a 36 y/o female. It's all foreign language to me and I don't understand one bit. All I know is I'm dealing with pain daily and it's progressively getting worse. Tonight I had Christmas dinner at my parents and almost had to go to the ER in so much pain. My clavicle is shooting pain to the point I can't move my arm. I take between 5-10mg Vicodin and a muscle relaxer when needed. Tonight I took 20mg and 1 1/2 Soma and received 0 relief. Pain so intense it put me in tears and ruined dinner.
What can I do to relieve the pain? Why would my collarbone have such intense pain . Also could this neck/back injury be the cause for my thyroid problem (diagnosed with this 2 years ago)? Any help would be appreciated. TIA
