Awaking Dreams

For the past several weeks, after I first fall asleep, I see someone staring at me and sometimes saying my name! I immediately jump up in bed and YELL "WHAT" or grab my husband. Well, he thought it was funny, but concerning, and now he's starting to get tired of it, which I don't blame him. Last night he went to the couch because I did it 3 times in a row........ I'm not sure what is causing me to do this. Last night, needless to say, I had trouble going back to sleep when I finally got him back to bed, because I was afraid I would do it again! I am also thinking it may have something to do w/ him waking me up when I begin to snore. He says I am a very loud snorer off and on. I had a "preliminary" sleep apnea test where you wear a heart monitor and o2 sat for the night and the dr. said I didn't have any signs of lowered heart rate or a drop in o2 sats during the night, so said I didn't need a full blown SA test. I'm starting to wonder. These dreams are disturbing and seem to be getting worse. I do have several symptoms of SA: snoring, tired during the day, forgetfullness, memory loss, weight gain...............Any ideas? I did find something that sounded like it could be related too, called parasomnia. Anyone have any info on this? Does it sound like my problem? Thanks!

  • Hufford discusses such disparate topics as nightmares, sleep paralysis, hypnagogic hallucination and out of body experiences. But he also talks about the supernatural -- about ghosts, witches and UFOs. This is a fascinating book and makes one wonder what other tales from folklore, previously called myths, might actually be based on real events. holiday gift baskets

Thanks! Find a sleep clinic that is associated with a medical center. Locate a physician that specializes in sleep medicine, but not an ENT - find an internist - and preferably a doctor that has sudied at Stanford Medical Center. Ask to be tested for sleep apnea. Also ask about NARCOLEPSY. and or CATAPLEXY. trust your gut and do not take no.
