Hey everyone. I seem to have inherited a weird thing from my mom where my toenails point upwards slightly. What could cause this?

  • Yeah I have the same issue, not sure why. It makes climbing shoes painful to wear for extended periods of time, which is a shame. A few times the first part of my shoe to wear out was the area just above my toenail.

  • I did some more research and apparently the nail growth follows the structure of the underlying bone, so you and I have a phalanx (or the plural, phalanges) that are somewhat upturned relative to our foot. For me it's only an issue on my big toes, still annoying though because of the climbing shoe issue.
