About two and a half weeks ago I felt a raised welt on my back, so I went into the bathroom and looked in the mirror. There were about 10 of these raised welts on my back, sides, and chest. Over the next few days more appeared, but only on my back, sides, and chest. Then about a week later two showed up on my neck and lower face. A week ago I went to the emergency room for something unrelated to the rash, but the E.R. doctor took a look. At first he thought it was fungal, but after looking at the spots under a lighted magnifying glass, he determined it was not a fungus, and didn't know what it was, so he said it was a viral rash. He sent me home with a prescription for a week of steroids, hoping the meds would take care of it. Nope, now it's worse.
It has now spread all over the side of my face and everywhere on my neck. I have spent hours on the internet, trying to find answers to what this could be. My BEST guess would be either ringworm, hives, or pityriasis rosea. When I first got the rash, it didn't itch. Now it does, but not like mosquito bite itch or poison ivy itch. It's a mild itch.
I have an appointment with a dermatologist on Tuesday. I hope to get answers then, but I suffer from severe anxiety, so this rash is causing me to have panic attacks.
I took some pics, here's the link to them on photobucket. http://s202.photobucket.com/albums/aa284/montanadolphin/Unknown Rash/
I'll try to get a few of the photos in this post, but in case I can't, there's the link.
