As for a background story for my health:

I am a 22 year old woman, and I've never seen anything like this before.

I have had this rash like thing on my leg for about a month now, and it's still just as dark. Infact, the camera didn't even capture exactly how dark it really is. It's more of a brown color, and it seems to follow veins/arteries in my leg. It doesn't seem to hurt until I push down on it a bit, like an old bruise. I figured it would go away after a week or two, but that was two weeks ago.

The only thing I can link to that seems like it was a contributor is a small ceramic space heater I have sitting under my desk to keep my feet warm. I have been using this exact space heater for years, and it has never caused anything like this. The only thing that came to mind was the fact that I was wearing jeans about a month or so ago, and they were not touching the skin. I had not realized that the fabric to my jeans were extremely hot so when I moved it started burning my skin. Wasn't really hot, definitely not hot enough to burn, but it didn't feel great.

I was unsure whether this was a skin condition or some weird blood clot, or something crazy that I will suffer from. I just hope it's not life threatening, or early signs of something serious.

  • Have you been able to figure out what this is, I have the same redness?I have the same thing I think. But maybe a little worse. Mine seems to get worse when I sit down for long amounts of time. I've been on the road a lot lately, and it's been bad since then.

  • I have the same burn on my legs from the space heater under my desk at work. Has anyone's burn gone away?I noticed mine a few weeks ago and just put two and two together that it was the space heater and moved it. It seems to have gotten worse.I had used the same heater for years with no previous issues.Just curious if anyone else's has gone away.

  • I also have this now as i've been using a halogen heater for a few months quite close.

i actually noticed it a few months ago and didn't think about it, thought it might go on it's own when it didn't i looked into it more and found out that it was "Erythema Ab Igne"

Mines quite dark on the back of my leg. once i knew i stayed away completly from the halogen heater. i've slowly been using it again, but not as close as i work ina freazing office. i've recently notticed it a little bit on the other leg also, not sure if it was there before, i din't think so, so i will stay away completly now.

i'm just wondering if other heat sources can cause it such as open fires and electric blankets.

Has anyone had any progress with this? i've read you can't really reverse it :/ but i did find this which mentions some creams that may help:

I may go to the doctors soon as see what she thinks
