I have been diagnosed with eczema at the age of 40. Prior to this 'rash' I have had food allergies resulting in occasional hives but never a rash.
The rash has been with me for over a year now. I have eliminated all major allergens from diet, tried candida cleanse, lever cleanse, etc! and have not found relief. The rash has spread to 60% of my body. It started on my arms, then shoulders, then back, then chest, now legs and face.
Steroid creams do knock it down but it returns. The one symptom that I can not find anywhere except poison ivy type issues is that burning the rash with extremely hot water really soothes it. The internal soothing is difficult to describe. Kind of like when someone finds that itch that has been bothering you (times 100) The soothing from the burning actually compares to an orgasm. The hotter the better and once the water actually burns me it is over and further hot water only hurts. After burning there is a release of something internally which results in my hands and face swelling. As well, the itchiness of the rash is over for up to 8 hours. But it does return and the cycle repeats.
My doctor has no idea what the burning is about and only asks that I stop. I just can't. Once in the shower the 'need' for relief takes over. An allergist suggests I have allergies but can't pinpoint what. I tried crazy diets which have resulted in weight loss but no relief (down 25lbs to 180)
