small bumps on my face

Hello, a few years ago I notices a very hard small painless bump near my eye. I scatched it and it seemed to come off. If I touched it again it stung. A day or even hours later it was back. Over the years they have multiplied on my face. I thought maybe it was my eye make up. So I stopped wearing eye make all together. I don't wear any other make up and I am noticing it below the eyes, on my jaw line etc.. They really aren't that noticeable until I get close to the mirror or run my finger over them. I don't want them to appear anymore. Do you have any idea what they are, what causes them or how to get rid of them? I have an appt. with a dermatologist next month and if I don't have to go that would be great. Any suggestions will help.
