Small 'spots'/'lumps' under palm skin

I have searched high and low for an answer as to why I have a group of small lumps, no bigger than 2mm wide on my right palm. They are under the skin and are causing absolutely no irritation to me... other than I can see them. They have only recently been noticed. One idea was that my gf has recently inheritted a dog, however I have never had problems with dogs before.
Any suggestions?
