Question - regular sores on arms

I am now 52 and about 10 years I developed a pimple sore on my right arm. After it broke or was scratched it healed over with a scare. It would not be a problem for a long time but eventually it would grow a slight scared bump and so I would tend to scratch it off as we have a tendency not to want bumpy bits on our bodies. Now it is about 1cm in length and width and is slightly sore to touch. More recently I have noticed a few more develop on the other arm.

I know I should ignore them and not touch them but easier said than done.

Just wondering if others have experienced this and what causes them
