I went to the doctor today for a more than usual swelled tattoo i got a few days ago mainly because I missed work and needed a doctor's excuse. The doctor looked at it and decided he didn't know if it was infected or just *****(not vulgar) due to body's natural reaction to push out what doesn't belong. So he prescribed me prednisone and cephalexin. I understand the cephalexin, but why the prednisone? It's not that inflamed, just *****. Wouldn't something as mild as ibuprofen work just fine? Doesn't prednisone weaken the immune system's ability to fight infection? Do doctors often prescribe prednisone in similar cases?
