I am a 41 year old female and have suffered with incredibly itchy legs for about 14 years.
My legs are a mess, full of scars from scratching till I bleed and then reopening scabs by scratching them over and over.
My doc has sent me to see a dermatologist about twice but they were no help.
I have tried...
Steriod creams (gives me a burning sensation)
E45 (gives me a burning sensation)
Hc45 (gives me a burning sensation)
Calmine Lotion (gives me a burning sensation and makes me itch!)
Eczema creams (gives me a burning sensation)
Nappy rash creams (gives me a burning sensation)
Porridge oat baths (temporary relief)
Menthol Talc (helps but I have to get it from USA and it costs a lot)
Cream with silver stuff in it ( useless)
honey cream (gives me a burning sensation)
Dead sea salt baths
Oilatum baths
I had to take steroid tablets for a respitory infection and this helped my skin but doctor says I can't take any more.
I have even had my copper iud out in case it was a copper allergy (don't think it was that)
I am now taking homeopathic sulphur and that seemed to do the trick at first but not any more (I'm still taking it(about 12 pillules a day).
I have never had allergy testing or any skin samples taken.
I have had a blood test which pointed to me needing iron supplements but the iron tablet gave me severe wind pain ( I mean doubled up on the floor in public severe!)
I have gotten up in the middle of the night and poured cold water over my legs, slept with frozen towels on my legs even sat and rubbed ice cubes on them.
Nothing works and I am at my wits end, I have cried ond cried with the itching and burning. Sometimes I wish I could cut my legs off!
Please help!
Mags

  • Hi Chiggy. Have you tried an antihistamine by chance? Had your thyroid tested to see if it is functioning properly? I have a similar issue -Read my post here: http://forums.wrongdiagnosis.com/showthread.php?t=34934

MagsTry to soak a wash cloth with some rubbing alcohol. Do this thoroughly for 30 minutes just before bed. Also take an extra super hot shower for 10 minutes just BEFORE you do the alcohol washings.good luck, let me know how you do:)
