I am so trying to find out why I have skin pain. I do not experience the pain all the time. I maybe have it 3 or 4 times a month. The skin is so sensitive to the touch and to clothing it is sometimes unbearable. It does not burn or itch nor does it discolor and I have no other noticable symptoms with it. The doctors look at me like I am out of my tree!!! Is there anyone else with this out there and may know what it is?

  • I was wondering what this was that I have had all my life. I am not sure its the same thing as what is being described here. Its a pain on my skin. It moves around. I dont get it very often but when I do it happens a few times over a month. Last week I had a patch hurting on my forearm. burns hurts to touch or clothes to rub it. It does hurt to push on it. Not severe though. No redness or apparent injury. I just call it my roaving sore spot. This week its on my hip. My sisters and I laugh about it because we all have it. If it is the same as what you all have it may be a milder version or that I am so used to it I just overlook it. I do have a cold right now. I saw where someone said that can bring it on.

  • It sounds like I'm suffering with the same problem as you are, Peachy. Mine is at the base of my neck, maybe slightly lower, and started a couple weeks ago. It burns, yet is more than that, it just hurts! No rash or anything. I was interested to read what you found out about shingles, and I plan to start with the vitamin C and lysine to see if that may help me. I have had this same thing before, but not so intense or at least not so that it's bothered me as much. It's always gone away faster and I never gave it that much thought, and heck, I'm used to having other types of pain..but this time, well it's just a lot worse. I'm glad I found this site, it's so good to see others are having the same symptoms, and that I'm not crazy!

  • I have had skin a irritation problem also…sounds like some of these previous symptoms from other writers. It is on the left side of my back and around under my chest, in like 2” X 5” area on each place. When my shirt rubs it…it burns! (Feels like someone rubbing 60 grit sand paper on my skin!) No rash, no redness…totally nothing visible. Went on for 16-18 days. I quit using Nasal Spray and starting taking Claritin (Non-Drowsy) and each morning I consume 2oz of Apple Cider Vinegar mixed with 8 oz of apple juice. Started on Saturday afternoon. It is totally gone today!Apple Cider Vinegar is great for ya! I used to take that dose every morning without fail. Should have never stopped a year ago!Gary

  • All I can say today is ***n! I have had this freaking problem for at least a decade...no wiat...maybe two. I'm 32 and alls I know is everytime it's near time for a menstrual cycle to show up or maybe 1-2 days into it I have this pain. Okay just like you all...I look in the mirror for the bruise...nothing. Today it started in the front of my upper thigh, moved around to the hip and by the time I made it home, I literally tore off my jeans and I was actually upset becuz the jeans made me look nice today. I considered putting on sweats...no way Hosea...because even as I lay in bed now on my stomach, it hurts. For years I told no one...you all are the only others I've mentioned it to because it sounds freaking retarded! There is nothing there! I can think about in the past years how it would even move down to my foot. Even the arch or underside...no shoes thank you very much because it HURTS!!! The only common think that I've linked to this is the cycle it runs and what comes with it. It normally last 3-5 days at the most with day 2-3 being the worst sometimes even day one if it's a 3 day gig. Normally shows up during the time I'm menstrating or supposed to be menstrating, usually affects the lower extemities, invisible, burns especially to the touch. What in the devil is this? Oh and sometimes comes with common cold or flu type symptoms but only in a mild way like a slightly runny nose or sneezing and mild congestion. Now that I know I'm not the only one I will consider talking to my doctor about it...I think. Anyone know anything special please email me with "Painful Moving Skin" at dimpala5000@yahoo.com......Toodles!!!!!

  • My mother started having painful skin just as everyone has described in her mid 40's. Quarter sized spots to patches covering entire areas. Burns like fire when touched lightly, feels fine when pressure is applied. Skin never, ever, ever has had a rash - spots - color change. She is now 65 and this bizarre skin condition has intensified to include stiff muscles while the skin pain is present. The pain used to pop up every few months for a few days then mysteriously disappear. Now she gets patches that are hanging around for a few weeks or months, and some months she has different flare-ups overlapping each other. She was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, but she does not have any of the classic 'sensitive spots' that come with fibromyalgia. She has some rheumatoid arthritis that doesn't bother her. She also is diabetic. She is on Lyrica, and it seems to help lessen the duration and intensity of the burning spots.I started getting this same condition when I was a teenager. I know exactly what she is talking about when she says "that sunburn stuff". I had a quarter sized spot on my inner thigh during my second pregancy that was there for months, but usually mine only lasts a few days. I hope we can figure out what it is - my mom's is getting to the debilitating point, and I can only imagine what I'll be like when I'm 65...especially since she started getting it when she was 40ish, and I'm not even 40 yet!

  • I have the same thing for several months. I think it is called allodynia. I feel my skin burning when someone rubs it. But I also have strange depressions on my skin where it burns. Here is a picture of my back: http://s3.amazonaws.com/medhelp_images/profiles/1070027_fs?1258314187 I have these symptoms since I did a Magnetic Ressonance. So maybe i and we also sufer from electromagnetic hypersensitivity. I'm also looking for answers, because people always says MRIs are safe. Joao

  • I am so excited to read that I am not alone! I and I am not crazy. I started getting these pains almost 20 years ago. They come and go without warning. It felt like needles poking me on my left arm, wrist and fingers. It lasted a couple days then went away as quick as it came. Even a light breeze was agonizingly painful. I didn't think much of it and it was probably 6 months before it happened again. Always in the same place left arm, wrist and fingers. I had 2nd and 3rd degree burns in the same area about 5 years earlier so when the pain would reappear I shrugged it off as nerve damage. Now this may be totally unrelated but since I was a small child I have gotten blisters on my right upper thigh. They would come and go, my mom said I would get them when I ate acidic foods. Twice in my life the blisters showed up on my lower abdomen. The reason I think this may be related is because after I had my first baby I have not had the blisters at all, but the painful nerves on my skin have slowly increased frequency and intensity sense then. Now I get the pains all over, I mean it may start on my foot and end up on my lower back. it moves in patches. I have gotten it in the back of my neck and it moves to my head and ear and ends in my eye. All on the same side. This is the scary part for me It goes inside and causes intense headaches, earaches, and blurred vision. the side of my face gets swollen. I went to the doctor and he ran blood tests they came back negative. I know I don't have rheumatoid Arthritis, or lupus. He said I was completely healthy. That was heartbreaking to me because I know in my heart of hearts something is wrong.

  • Well I have the burning skin. Mine is all on the left side. I get it from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet. It is in my ear,my eye it feels like sand,in my mouth I can not have my tongue touch the roof of my mouth,I can feel it inside of my body. It burns on the inside trying to take a poop. I can feel every little thing my body does on the inside because it hurts on that side. I have tried telling my GD this they gave me muscle relaxers.Did not work,I told my Nero Dr he just said it was from the strokes but I have had this for years. The Strokes were two years ago. Now they are checking for lung cancer. I do not think it is part of it. they missed something two years ago on a test. Anyone have any Ideas. Oh I have been teased for herpes.thanks

  • I am seeing the doctor soon about the same thing. I will post here what is said.I ended up in the ER because the pain that feels like sunburn came on across my back so fast and hard it scared me . My Liver Enzymes are inflated and I am being tested - but they are totally dismissing this pain. It has now spread from my back (yes clothes hurt to wear) to my arms - tops of my legs, tops of my feet, my forehead- appears to be random but always starts in my back - then picks spots as the day goes on. This is horrible and I am not sure how long I can stand this - generally not as bad when I wake up - when I can sleep- but as the day progresses- OMG - - with this many post u would think that it would be taken more seriously. Doctor totally dismissed Shingles because no rash, so nothing. Oh and my tongue burns too. This is terrible
