I've had molluscum for a while but never more than 3 or 4 at a time. i've had one just above the baithing suit line for at least 4 months and it's the last one that hasn't gone away, except for one other tiny one. well a few days ago it was swollen, definitely bigger than it used to be and so i finally decided to take a needle and get out the core...but now i don't think i got the core out...i didn't get like a big ball i just got a little white stuff and then blood, and there was still a bump when i stopped. well i had it covered the first day and cleaned it with alcohol a few times since then but that's it, and it's been uncovered since the first day. now it's painful and red and it's like a scab and there's white on the side of it...i don't know if it's pus or maybe the core? do you think it's still "alive" or infected? is there anything i can do or will i have to get it checked out?

  • Yes, sounds like. I have had great success using "Plantain Goldenseal Salve" by Gaia Herbs found in health food stores. I put a large amount on and cover it with a bandaide. I have had nasty infected looking things clear up, but was persistent for several weeks before I noticed any results.. keep an eye on it, you might need to get it treated..

  • thank you. It looks a lot better now, the scab came off in the shower and it's not as puffy, no pus, not painful, but it's very dark, and bigger than the original bump, and still slightly raised. I have kept it covered since posting and have been better about cleaning it, using alcohol and also hydrogen peroxide a few times, and I put neosporin on it when I change the bandaid.i'm worried it's going to scar...i can't imagine it not scarring, but the mark i have now is so much bigger than the original bump...where the scab was it looks like it's going to be one scar and then it's really dark around it..i hope that goes away...this sucks, it was my last one, and the only one that shows in a bathing suit, and the only one i tried to self-treat...and now i feel like i should've left it alone... it just looked like it was ready to pop on its own so i figured i should take advantage of that =(

  • well...we can't help ourselves sometimes...there's that scar stuff out on the market now...you could try that, but the goldenseal paste helped calm down some of my picking scars..
