Molluscum - How did you get it?

I was diagnosed with this and am trying to figure out how I got it. I know I did not get it sexually as I have been faithful to my partner for our entire relationship, 8 years. He does not have the condition (I looked all over his body), so I know he did not give it to me. In my reading on the matter, I have found that sexual transmission is almost the only reason that adults get it - although there have been others who have gotten it through sharing towels or other ways. I am trying to figure out what those "other ways" are. Any ideas from anyone who has had it??
Thanks for any suggestions.

  • I was a medical assitant and got it from a child who was sitting on my lap as she crying, she was being treated by the doctor. It is very conatagoius, not neccesarily sexually transmitted, there was a rash of it going around the grammar school.

  • I'm a college student and never been sexually active since I'm waiting for marriage. I know I got it somewhere on campus. Probably from a restroom even though I am always careful. But it could have been anything, maybe even a door handle in my apartment complex.

  • anna-- 1. Although I doubt you got this from your husband, you cannot logically exclude him. How do you know he didn't have a lesion before, spread it to you (then it takes 4-6 months to incubate) meanwhile his lesion disappears, and yours then begins after his has already left? Then, when you check his body and he has none, because his may have healed or even treated without yours (or possibly even his) knowledge. It's possible he had a lesion so small that even he didn't notice it and it left on it's own (and, very likely will be back)2. I believe I may have gotten mine from sports equipment that I repetitively used but did not properly clean and dry.3. VERY possible to get this from many sources.. all that has to happen is getting some core on your skin. Do you use jacuzzi's/hot tubs and/or saunas or pools? Do you play sports? Do you use a towel that isn't washed regularly?4. make sure you read the entire other MC thread, which has lots of testimony about where people thought they got it.
