long term itchiness

for over a year now, i have had chronic and constant itchy skin. mostly on my legs. i thought that maybe it was due to shaving, however not shaving actually makes the itching worse. i have tried an electric razor as well without any change in it. the scratching causes tiny bumps that often bleed, and sometimes no bumps at all. just the itch.

i did have an outbreak of something like this on my legs years and years ago. i thought it was dry skin and i started using aveeno skin relief every day and that seemed to cure it for quite some time. now it's back with a vengance. and it seems to have spread. the itchiness covers the entirety of both my legs, under my arms, and the inside of my elbows. i went to my primary care doctor and she said she thought it was eczema. although she also said eczema is not very common on the legs like mine is. and my legs is where it the worst.

i have tried unscented lotions, lotions with lanelin, rx strength hydrocortizone, diphenhydramine cream... pretty much everything. i have changed detergents, fabric softeners, soaps and body washes... so i don't think i am allergic to anything. i do have cats, however the benadryl doesn't do anything either. i doubt it's any kind of flea or bedbug infestation because my boyfriend who lives with me has no symptoms. i am waiting for a dermatology appointment but in the mean time i am going crazy! the itching never stops! NOTHING is working! does anyone have any ideas as to what this might be or any suggestions while i wait for my appointment!? before i scratch all my skin off?

  • I think that, like many people who have unprotected sex, you are worrying unnecessarily. You are putting all sorts of unrelated observations (itches, bumps) into one basket and agonizing over their collective significance, which they almost certainly don't have. None of the ones you list reminds me of any STD, or any skin problem at all._________________Click Here For Natural Genital Warts Cure

  • Check out Grovers DiseaseI understand, that you feel like scratching your skin off. I have a long term rash 5 years. They cant diagnose it. I feel like escaping by just sleeping and not waking up. Really not an option. Maybe I have a monster inside me. Not bed bugs....confirmed. I have high ANA antibodies. Not Lupus, possible Sjoregens syndrome. It is accompanied By Arthritic pain, chronic fatigue, hypothyroidism, depression, bruising easily, triggered by food and drinks, but not always. First misdiagnosis was Fibromyalgia. I already have had 5 breast biopsy"s. One returning with Atypical cells. I am 46 years old. My latest suspision is possible radiation sickness, or poisioning. I have become my own Dr. to some degree. Still trying and not dead yet, but it's getting ridiculous. I'm getting really angry about it also. I am scheduling an appt. with a specialist in D.C. in infectious disease and renoun specialist in parisites. Have you gone on vacation prior to breakout ? It's usually warmer weather climates, but not always ? I again am going to ER, to get clobetosol , it's the only thing that helps with itching, and another antibiotic. But I do know it will return.....Good Luck, Best Wishes......Also like sunburn all the time......>8 / gail
