Itchy skin, lower back, no rash.

This itchyness is predominately across the lower back area. There is no rash or visible evidence, as if under the skin.
It has come and gone over 6-7 months, but more prolonged at present. Occasionally occurs to a lesser extent on elbows and knees.
Diet and lifestyle are the same as for many years. Possible reasons, as found on this site, relate to issues regarding Thyroid or Kidneys. One I have bears the question - "Do I have more sugar than I need, and could this be a factor, plus wheat (bread etc) ?
Any other factors I should consider or 'natural' products that may help? Thank You.
