Itchy Red Bumps

About a week ago my girlfriend noticed a few itchy red bumps on the side of her body. Each day since we have woken up and have noticed a few more in other spots on her body, usually around her chest. There are also a couple on her leg and butt, but none on her face, arms, hands or feet. The original ones we found a week ago don't look much different now. They aren't really scabbed over, nor have they really faded away. The only thing that has changed is more have popped up, and they are itching even worse. They are spread around pretty randomly, and there probably isn't more than 15 or 20 on her, except for everyday we seem to noticed 2 or 3 more.

She went to the doctor about 3 days ago and he said that he thinks it is just a viral rash, but he also said they should be going away, and more keep appearing. She has been using itch cream but it hasn't worked out so great. She's also had a bit of a sore throat, although right now says it's gone, and has been having some heat flash-like symptoms. She also has anxiety attacks, and the doctor thinks the sudden heat flashes are her anxiety and stress. After he said that she really hasn't had any more heat flash moments, so that may have been true.

Also, she has never had the chickenpox, but the doctor said he didn't think that's what it was. She hasn't had contact with any plants like poison ivy, and I don't think they are insect bites because I would have them too seeing as we sleep in the same bed. We just can't figure out what they are... Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
