I'm a 16-year-old girl with a history of eczema (atopic and nummular) on my chest, shoulders, arms, and legs. It's very mild and usually only affects one area every winter. I don't know if me having eczema has anything to do with what I'm experiencing right now, but I figured I should mention it.
Anyway, I first noticed a large, brown, splotchy spot (about 1 1/2 inches lengthwise) about 2 inches above my belly button in April. I didn't think much of it but it seems to have gotten darker and more noticeable. The darkened skin feels very dry. I have also recently noticed similar but lighter spots on both of my arms, both located an inch away from the inside of my elbow. All of these splotches look a lot like birthmarks (particularly the Café au lait kind), but I know for a fact that I did not have them before this year.
The spots don't hurt or anything, I'd just like to know why they're suddenly appearing and if there is a way to get rid of them.
