I do not know what is going on with my hands. They get itchy. Then turn bright red, swell and get hot. Sometimes I am unable to straighten my fingers when this happens and they become sensitive to touch.

I talked to my doctor and she said it was Reynaud's, but my symptoms don't match that at all. She kept insisting that my hands were cold and tingling.

Does anyone have any ideas?

  • I get this, mostly in winter. Hot, red, itchy patches. Worse at night. Plain old dermatitis. Recommend Epaderm because it has no proper 'active ingredients' - just emollients like paraffin wax - so not likely to set up a horrid reaction. Use the sticky ointment. Put it on dry hands. Rub it over the patches. Wash off with luke warm water. Don't forget to turn the taps on before you put the ointment on - or you'll never get them on!!Good luckI do not know what is going on with my hands. They get itchy.
