This started last Tuesday with red dots on my hands and forearms. They did not itch or bother me so I ignored it. Then by Thursday the dots were also around my ankles and feet. I have 3 pets so I automatically thought fleas but they are all on medication to prevent them but I checked all the pets anyway and they do not have fleas. Thursday night my ring finger swelled to 2x the normal size and hurt. It was very hot and felt like it was going to explode. By Friday midday the swelling went down but I still had the rashes that appeared and disappeared only on the hands forearms feet and ankles again. Some of the spots beagan to itch. Saturday night on my other hand between my index finger and my thumb that skin swelled up just like the ring finger 2 days prior. I finally got an appointment on Tuesday and the Dr. was literally in the room for 5 minutes and said he was not sure and was going to refer me to a dermatologist. I felt dismissed but like an idiot kept my mouth shut. Wednesday my feet swelled and were on fire. They hurt so bad. I started thinking about it and looking online for possible diagnosis since I still was without one. I found a website about Rheumotoid Arthritis and called the Dr. office and demanded that I have the bloodwork for that. I had that done yesterday. I am now today having the same thing that happened to my hand Saturday now on the other side and I am desperate. Please is there anyone out there that can help. I called my physician back today and advised that I was having this problem today and to leave a message for him. I also mention that I found another possible diagnosis Erythema Nodosum. Please help me if you have some information.

  • try going to a hospital's emergency room if you have insurance for that and theyll have you examined by a specialist for whatever they think is the problem. Emergency rooms arent only for severe emergencies and sometimes its better to get a specialists opinion, doctors can be vauge and unreliable(just make sure you have insurance because when they perform tests it will cost a lot!)i once hit my head after snowboarding accident and it wasnt that bad i just had a headache, i called my doctor and he said to take an aspirin but the headaches didnt stop so i went to emergency room and they did a CAT scan on my head and a specialist told me what to do, thank god I had insurance because otherwise i wouldve paid the 2,000$ bill !

  • I have had EN. Hot red rash on my ankles, shins and raised red nodules on my forearms and even some on my trunk. In my case EN was an autoimmune reaction to sarcoidosis of the lungs (a common cause) You said you had 3 pets-are any of them cats or do you come in contact with cats(especially ferile). Cat Scratch Fever is another cause of EN. Just a heads up.
