I started getting a rash around my eyes caused by my corners of my eyes weeping at times. It is like my skin is allergic to my tears at times. The corners mat up, crack, and hurt most of the time. The rash is also below my eyes and is red and very dry and gets puffy. I also have the rash at the corner of my mouth and it does the same thing : cracks, splits, itches the skin. I feel like my eyes are swelled at times and the skin is pulled tight. I can't afford to see a doctor because my husband lost his job and insurance and any help would be grateful.

  • Dear, I'm so sorry for your discomfort. The problem may be perioral dermatitis. This condition is most problematic around the mouth and lips, but sometimes can be around the edges of the eyes. Do a google search for Perioral Dermatitis and you will find all the information you need. Sometimes doctors will rx oral antibiotics. You may have sensitivity to fluoride in water and toothpaste and/or to cosmetics. Above all...do NOT use topical cortisone creme for this. Call your doctor and don't worry.
