About 4 or 5 months ago I had a cyst in my armpit that I had drained. Since then I've moved across the country and so had to find a new doctor. Last week I developed the same painful red lump in the same place as before, so I went to the doctor. This doctor told me it wasn't a cyst, it is an abscess. So she drained it and put packing in it, and I have to have it changed daily for a week.
So I guess I'm wondering if I really had a cyst the first time, or if that was an abscess as well. Could draining the cyst have caused the abscess, and taken several months to become painful? Or were these two incidents just completely unrelated even though they were in the exact same spot? Any thoughts?
