Burning itchy blisters on palms?

About a week ago I got a small single tiny red bump on my palm. It burned and itched a bit, but didn't look like a bug bite, more like a blister. The next day there were three clustered together, and the third day the cluster had grown to the diameter of a dime, and random other dots spread across my palm and between my fingers. The burning and itching are becoming unbearable and do not respond to cortisone cream. The blisters are not very "puffy" with liquid, and are several layers under the surface skin of my palm, so do not rupture, but they are making using my right hand difficult.
I have had shingles (herpes zoster) outbreaks before on my back, chest, and leg, and it feels a lot like this, but I have never heard of it on the palms. I have been taking Zovirax/Acyclovir just in case it is herpes, but it is still spreading. Anyone have experience with this?? Thanks for your help...

  • Your description is somewhat consistent with something called "dishydrotic eczema", aka hand eczema aka dishydrosis. You might do a search and see if any pics you can find is similar to what you have.
