I have these dots on the inner sides of both feet as well as right behind my toes. I have had these for over 10 years, They do not hurt. I have noticed that they are starting to appear on the backs of my calves.

I was doing a lot of leg work at my job about 8 years ago and my doctor just said they were broken vessels... so i left it at that. Now that they are appearing on my calves and i have a desk job i question it.

any idea?

  • Myxedema ...it can get much worse. I also have it, which is why I say that. After a lot of research, I discovered myxedema is common with Grave's Disease but also other thyroid diseases like Hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's (which I have). The cause of the brown spots is some sort of acid caused by thyroid disease. In 10 years or so, you'll get bald patches on the legs. I just recently got the bald patches 2 years ago after having the brown dots for about 10 years. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis (which also caused mild hypothyroidism) in December.

Get tested for hypothyroid and Hashimoto's. Many doctors are arrogant and won't test for Hashimoto's if your TSH looks good, so demand it...before your condition gets any worse any you start developing 10 or 20 other very unpleasant symptoms (anxiety, brain fog, depression, dry skin, hair loss, night sweats, panic attacks, joint pain, muscle pain, chronic fatigue, metabolic syndrome, etc.).
