Greetings everyone... for the last 10 or so months, I have been having weird symptoms at the end of my mensus (yes when my mensus has ended)- I feel exhausted, have headaches, I have a fairly heavy/watery discharge- that smells of something... not sure what, can't think clearly, sometimes I feel like I am in a complete fog, and have horrible anxiety. Sometimes during this time, I become bloated as well- I thought several times that I had a UTI but I didn't. These symptoms last about a week and then right before I ovulate I start to feel better again....

I have gone to multiple docs and they tell me that nothing is wrong... clearly something is off or maybe I have to come to the realization that I am going to feel like **it.... for 7 days or so out of the month..... any thoughts would be appreciated.

I just want to get back to feeling myself 100% all of the time.

  • No advice, but I too have weird symptoms starting about 2 days into my period. I thought I was the only one. I'm on Loestrin so i only spot for about 3 days anyway. But from the last day or so of my period until the end of the first week of pills I feel horrible. Depression (sometimes anxiety), complete fatigue, my allergies seem to be at their worst, etc. I too wonder what is going on, these are supposed to be happening before not during and after. I'll be watching your post to see if someone responds with information.

  • hi, I'm not a doctor, but i know alot about alternative health care. I'm not sure about the change in your odour but that foggy feeling could be either toxicity, dehydration, inadequate rem sleep or a combination of the three. The homeopathic remedy Natrium Muricum may help, Natrium Sulphericum is also good for that "foggy brain" feeling. You should also try to avoid any sented products such as perfumes, sented personal care products, laundry detergents, room sprays, chemical cleaners, anything that goes on or in you that is full of chemicals (hairsprays, makeup, body lotions) all of these things introduce materials that are toxic into your body wich can produce the symptoms you are describing. In addition to this you might try taking a liquid iron supplement such as Floradix to replace what was lost during mensis. Drink at least two quarts of water every day drink an extra cup for every cup of caffeine you consume, take a 20 min nap mid day if you can. Also taking a 20 min bath with 2-4 cups of epsome salts (drink lots of water to avoid dehydration) will help to draw toxins out of your body to help you feel better. Oh, and I should mention that B vitamins are great for energy and you need to take vitamin C daily in order to absorb Iron.Good luck!

  • mine ended on sept 9th....and as of about the last 2 days until now i've been having strage headaches (tension headaches) eye headaches, and on and off cloudy or blurry vision, always in the right eye where i get the headache-i know this has to do with tense muscles in the neck...this is why i always get tension headaches. i feel nauseated, and weak. i've also noticed these symptoms about the same time last month (after my period) it really is strange to have the same symptoms AFTER ur period ends.......i don't think it's anything serious, I think has to do with hormonal changes, and everyone's body handles them differently.any thoughts...?hi, I'm not a doctor, but i know alot about alternative health care. That is why you feel better after ovulating. Estrogen drops and progesterone is up. I am now starting to supplement with natural progesterone. My D.O. says it may well do the trick.Elizabeth

I just want to get back to feeling myself 100% all of the time.I have this exact same problem. And the bloating and anxiety are so extreme it kills my appetite completely which is not good cuz I'm underweight to begin with. It's a horrible and frightening experience. It started about 6 months ago and it's killing me. My doctor did the standard blood tests - metabolism, lipids, checked my pancreas...everything was normal. She said it was probably just hormone changes because I'd reached the age where hormones first start changing. It's nice to know she thinks its not a dreaded disease but that doesn't change the fact that it FEELS like a dreaded disease does it? And since the 'diagnosis' is so vague it doesn't make me feel any better in the least. I guess it's perimenopause since I'm in my mid 30s. That would be logical. But again it doesn't make it any easier to cope with. I wish I had advice to offer but at least you know you're not alone. It makes me feel a little better to know I'm not. I was beginning to think I was the only one.

  • I also have some weird symptoms after my period ever so often. I am experiencing it right now with feelings of tension and anxiety. I feel restless and almost shaky, I worry about these feelings and then both the anxiety and physical feelings get worse. I feel mild heart palpitations and I keep worrying about all of this. I didn't know how to describe the pysical symptoms other than tense or shaky, and that becomes a red flag for me because I ask myself are the psychological symptoms stronger than the pysical ones? If they are it's usually caused by stress. It helps to read everyone's feedback.

  • I too have similar symptoms, usually starts from the last day of my period and goes on for about a week. It seems to be pms symptoms, only at the end of period. Dont have similar symptoms before period.I thought that I was the only one with these strange "pms" symptoms AFTER the period. I usually gain a lot of weight after my period, and feel like being pregnant: all the cravings, impossible to restrict myself at all, very sensitive, teary- I feel terrible!! All these symptoms last a week or so, and then after ovulation- my life is back to normal: extra weight is going, diets are working etc..Thank you the post, now I know that I am not along!!

  • Me too. I get PMS symptoms during the first week after my period. I know that is when we ovulate and high fertility, but I didn't think it would give symptoms. It freaks me out a little because I feel like crapt.

  • Me too. I get PMS symptoms during the first week after my period. I know that is when we ovulate and high fertility, but I didn't think it would give symptoms. It freaks me out a little because I feel like crapt.I have just started with a similar thing, i.e. pmsing after my period. Although my periods are extremely erratic this post MS business has happened for my last three times. Most recently, I experienced severe lower back pain the day after my period ended and the weight that I gained during the build-up to to period (yes, I've been blessed with regular PMS also) is not budging. I feel like it never will. Other symptoms I experience after my period are a strong sense of sadness and hopelessness, unattractiveness. I also get very sort of whimsical about things, daydreaming, etc. Quite weird indeed. It's been really helpful reading this thread though, and finding out that other people with a similar problem usually feel better when they start ovulating. I had no idea about this so thanks for the heads-up. I think this is 14 days after the start of one's last period, so I've got another 5 days to go. I shall be very interested to observe mayself at this time and see if I feel a marked difference. I seriously hope so ....Take care ladies

  • Hi,
I have the same problem.. Im 44.
Last few months Ive had migraines which last 3-4 days around period. My periods have become a lot lighter. Some months I feel like if I blink I miss it!
I dont get as bad PMT now, maybe a tearful day few days before, but around 3-4 days after my period ends I feel very low and very tearful. It lasts for about 4 days. I can only presume its all to do with perimenopause. Apparently when your period ends your estrogen levels are very low, which causes all these symptoms. I hate it.. I dread it every month now. Im going to see my GP next week to see if he can maybe give me some estrogen supplement or patch for the week I feel so rubbish!
