Im 17 and started my periods when i was 13/14. But they have never ever been regular, I only had one then didnt have another one for about 2 years. Then since then i think ive only had about another 4. There always really heavy and painful. I know I should go to the doctors but im just scared what they will say. Im still a virgin so i never have any doubts i could be pregnant. I was thinking it would just be a hormone thing...any ideas?

  • Just by what you have said, I would look up PCOS (poly Cystic ovarian syndrome) and look at the symptoms. This is just an ideaBrenda

  • I feel your pain! I have the exact same thing going on with me. Period at 14, very irregular.Always extremly painful and heavy. Currently haven't had it for almost 1 year. This is the longest mine has not been present. I was wondering, have you had your thyroid checked recently? That could be part of it. I too think you could have pcos. I am going to the doctor for that next month myself. Go to a doctor as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the more damage pcos does to your female organs. Don't be scared, the doctor is there to help you, they will understand. Keep me posted on how you are doing.Don't worry, you will be fine.

  • it may too late to erply to your post, but here it goes:wierd periods tend to be hormone problems (the most common cause), which birth control pills or hormone pills are given.also, if you're athletic alot this can mess up a period BIG TIME in the sense that the periods just seem to stop for the most part. i dont know about what they would do to treat it if this were the cause.hope this can help.
