Swelling, Stinging, Prolonged Period

My period took an extra 4 days to finish, during the times it would pause, I had sex, but it was uncomfortable and I couldn't feel very much.
For a week or so though, the outside of my vagina, the lips, I suppose, are sore and tender. It stings alot when I put soap there, and even worse when I have sex now.
Everytime I have had sex for the past three days, my vagina has swelled up to the extent that my boyfriend can hardly go inside me, and it hurts alot!
This is really strange and I'm not sure what is causing the swelling and pain, but I really want it to stop!
I have been sexually active for almost two years, and have been on the contraceptive pill also.

  • Also, for a long time now, the right side of my crotch has been really painful. It's like a small cut, even though there is none to be seen.I keep thinking it's something to do with cleanliness, but from fear of everything hurting down there, I've increased my showers, and that's not working. It still really, really hurts.Especially toilet paper D=

  • An extremely common womens problem is candida (thrush) which is a fungal problem (one cant see the fugus by the eyes so dont try to go looking for it).. that can cause pain, redness, swelling, it will hurt when one goes to loo like you've described. The thing is it wouldnt cause your period to be longer.. but then maybe you have two different things going on. It's it thrush... you can get something over the chemist counter to treat this.. talk to your chemist/pharmacy about it and if the period problem is there next month.. go and see your doctor. If its thrush.. cleaning it more will just make it sorer, dont use soap on it and avoid sex until its fully treated.

  • Use mild soap. Most likely, an irritation to the soap, but you might want to get an STD check, including blood work for herpes and all the rest. If herpes is internal, it can really create of lot of pain down there.
