I have been single for more than a year. i.e no sex during that period.
I have had a relationship recently - past 3 months with sexual intercourse.

Is it possible for me to have carried a STD for the period before my current relationship? or is it more likely that my partner has recently infected me?

Your urgent feedback will be appreciated

  • Both are possible. Some of the STD show no symptoms and this is why they are dangerous. The microorganisms can stay in the body and cause damage without showing any symptoms. It is also very likely that your partner spread the disease to you. Unfortunately, there is no way to figure our who got the disease first :(

  • I think I'm almost in the same boat...I went without sex for 4 yrs...never had an issue of an std, but then I started dating a guy. It wasn't 3 months into the relationship that I started experiencing bladder infections, yeast infections and then this unbelieveable pain that felt like I had been cut on the labia. I tried to tell my self it was due to not having sex in so long and it would go away, but it didn't and within a week it had spread inside my vagina and I could not pee or wipe without crying. I finally went to the Dr and he said that I had genital herpes. My then partner tried to tell me that I must have gotten from my previous relationship 4 yrs ago, because he had no sympton or issues. My Dr told me to pee into a tub of water!!! I was absolutely mortified and just wanted relief. After about 10 days it was bearable again. I could sit without it being obvious there was a problem. However I ended this relationship in June 06 and have had no sex since then and I don't understand what is going on now...I still have to deal with the GH daily...some days it's ok and others it's totally nerveracking because it feels as it it may come back like that one other time, but now I have this terrible itching, general soreness in the labia and a bad odor...What more can this be???? I'm so tired of worrying about this stuff, but it just never ends...I don't feel like I'll ever be able to be in another raltionship due to all my stupid sex issues. I'm so depressed...it just feels that a normal life that I once knew is competely over other than wake up, go to work, pay the bills and take care of my kids....

  • The GH can be triggered just by stress. You dont have to be having sex with someone for it to flare up. The best thing is (just my opinion now) is to take Valtrex everyday. If you have a flare up, then put zinc oxide ointment on. It seems to be a good relief. Hate to say it, you could go days, weeks, even years and not have a flare up. Then all of a sudden it happens again. Something you will have to deal with for the rest of your life, or until they find a cure. It sucks but what else can you do.

  • you can carry many stds for a while without really knowing it Hpv can have no symptoms for years and then bam. But on the other hand 3 months is about the time when most stds will start to show symptoms.

  • I have a few occasions of exposed oral sex on a few prostitutes for the past 4 months. Please let me know the chances of getting infected with STD or HIV. I don't feel itch, fever, flu or any discomfort. Please advise me whether should I look for a Doctor for a check up. If yes, what is the best time to do the check up.Some of the prositutes that I have met them recently look okay till todate. Very worry, but can't be help as I am in overseas, very lonely.Very worried!!!

I'm so depressed...it just feels that a normal life that I once knew is competely over other than wake up, go to work, pay the bills and take care of my kids.... Same thing happened to me. The guy totally denied having anything and left me to deal with it the rest of my life. I have neuralgia 24/7 with lower back hot pain...nothing seems to help it. I have since found out that 50% of the guys who have it don't have symptoms and herpes can be spread without any visable symptoms, with 1 in 5 having it. The guy did have blood test and his came back positive and then a year later, he had another test and it came back negative, so he said he doesn't have it. There are false negatives but no false positives. I've joined "antopia.com" for online love connection, but have not met anyone and not sure I want to have sex with someone who has herpes because you can get it in a new spot...along with getting hepatiis or hiv, which can kill you. We may be wise to quit while we're ahead. The guy sleeping with prostitutes and looking is just outright dumb..hiv kills...what's he think it looks like? And the first poster...herpes breaks out on the buttucks and thighs, so even without vaginal sex, you can be exposed to it just by rubbing.
