Sources of Chlamydia?

I was recently shocked to find out the wife was diagnosed with Chlamydia. Our happy "she is pregnant" has turned into a "how in the world did this happen?"

We are both on antibiotics to get rid of it.

Is it possible to get this some way OTHER than through sex? I know I didn't cheat, and I trust her, so how in the world did we get it? Everything I've found on the internet says it's a very common bacterial STD. But sources of the STD seem to be strictly sexual, anal, and oral intercourse. Nothing about not washing your hands after using the bathroom, or drinking out of an infected cup, or kissing somone who is infected or any other logical source. I'm even wondering if the vaginal sonograms my wife kept having to have might not have been the source.

Of greater concern is the thought that we may have had it (undiagnosed) for quite some time since we have been together for over 10 years.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

  • Chlamydia is called the silent disease. Actually one of you may have had it when you met and you can have been reinfecting each other for years. I have also read about cases where people have had the bacteria for longer then 10 years.Hope things work out for you guys!
