I just recently got back from a visit with my girlfriend who I only get to see once every couple of months right now cause she is away at school. We have been together since june 2008 and have been sexually active since the beginning. This one night I remember her having pain in her lower abdonminals and she felt like she was gonna pee all night. She said that she felt better later that evening and we attempted sex but it just hurt her and we stopped. Within a few days I noticed red bumps and spots on the head of my penis but they went away within a few days. My penis is noticeably itchy and I have noticed 5-6 red bumps that have appeared on my shaft. They are about the size of a pinhead and red throughout, they have no pus filling and are not opening up. I initially thought it was herpes but it doesnt really look like any of the pictures and I dont have any of the other related symptoms. I am extremely worried about this!! The spots seem to be going away and the irritation seems to be going down but I'm still really freaked out. I am going to go to a health clinic tomorrow but just wondering if anyone could maybe tell me what they think.

  • Yes, herpes....you need an IgM blood test for it since they are gone. She needs the blood work, too, for IgM and IgG....herpes 2 specific, not the combo 1/2. Herpes doesn't have to look like what you think, it doesn't even have to have any symptoms at all. Unfortunately, her symptoms indicated that she was in the middle of an (internal) outbreak and should have protected you. Most clinics do not screen or run labs for it, unfortunately. It could be something else, however...what, I don't know..

  • Do you really think that is what it is? Are there any other infections that could cause red bumps that dry and scab?

  • I would get checked asap, i have gone through an std/sti nightmare for 6 months but in my case we cant find a solution. Go get the HSV1 and HSV2 blood test asap. Be warned in the world of std and STI its a very complicated and expensive thing to diagnose. In my case I have been tested for everything twice, all negative and Im still in pain. Good luck, go and get that test and keep a positive frame of mind.
