I have a puffy vein on the right side of my vaginas inner labia. It is to the right of my clitoris, and on the left side its smooth on the inner labia but on the right side this puffy vein puffs out like a little wing.. it is puffy all the time
and when i am sexually excited it gets even puffier. It doesn't hurt but is sensitive. I am not/never have been pregnant.

Here in canada you cannot just go to a gynecologist, because you have to get referred and there are wait lists and usually they are only for big issues or if you are pregnant. I don't want to go to my doctor because its so embarassing!! I feel like it would be really really really really embarassing to try to tell the doctor what it is, and where they SHOW it to him.. arggg:eek:

does anyone have any ideas or anything similar you have had checked out?

  • I understand about being embarrased at the GYN!!! When I was younger (in my 20's), I had a Gyn, he was just another Dr. ( I had a son at age 18 so I wasn't sooo shy)- BUT, I went in to see MY Dr. and he was on vacation and in his place was his GORGEOUS, BLUE-EYED, KENNY ROGERS HAIR, SEXY GUY!!! i WAS SOOOO embarrased, I had to keep reminding myself (HE SEES THESE EVERYDAY-ALL DAY LONG!!!) iT WAS STILL DIFFICULT!!! TRUE STORY!!! Is there any chance of requesting a female Physician??? ;) Can you say you "just feel more comforable with one". I hope you get a chance to suggest this. (if not- even if he is young, and adorable) - visualize him as an older, wise, granfatherlike man. It is a professional setting and its WORK to them!!! Pretend he's a mechanic working on you "car engine"??? Sounds silly, but it may help to alleviate your fear and make you stay calmer for your exam. Just don't say outloud "so, do I need a tune-up"???:D He may wonder about your concept of reality! I'm sure you'll be fine. Best wishes with your appointment. Get the peace of mind by finding out what it is. Let us know??? Peace!

  • It is possible to get varicose veins around the vagina. I would still go see the doc just to have piece of mind, but I think it is probably harmless.

  • I am not a doctor but I agree with other poster. Probably a varicose vein. Not unusual. More at risk if overweight. Remember that the vulvovaginal area normally becomes engorged (swollen with blood) when aroused.
