I recently went to the gyno because ive had multiple problems for a few years and no one is ever able to tell me what they could be. Chronic yeast infections, bacterial infections, abnormal bleeding, discharge, discomfort, etc. I called to get the results of all my tests earlier because i wanted to diagnose whatever was currently going on which seems like a bacterial infection. Nurse tells me that everything checks out fine except the blood test came back positive for pregnancy, this came as a huge shock to me for many reasons. I have had sex maybe twice in the last 2 months (same partner for a couple years) both times protected, im not on birth control but I always use a condom, ive hardly been able to have sex because of the issues I have had down there recently. Plus the day I went in for the check up, I actually had my period. Bought an at home pregnancy test on the same day I hear that I am pregnant and the results said not pregnant! Whats going on? Anybody have a similiar situation or know what could make a blood test incorrect?

  • They are usually more accurate than the over the counter test. Go get it done again.

  • The exaxt same story with me I have nausea but no vomit I had period lighter then usual and had spotting once. I had a blood test hcg which said level of 25 in serum but it was still negative. At home I took several home tests all negative 20 days from the blood test of 25 hcg shouldnt it be positive by now?As for your question it depends on which test you used because some hpt wont register less then 50 hcg or 25 hcg some will 20 but most commonly 25 50 or even 100 so check the box of test what is the lowest it will find. I would retest later that is what I am doing as well
