molloscum contagiosum

I have recently been diagnosed with molloscum contagiosum on the shaft of my penis, and I'm trying to figure out where I got this from. I have had problems with planter warts on my foot, but from what I understand this is likely not the same virus.
I am also sexually active, but I have been in a long term relationship for approaching a year and a half, and my partner does not have any of the warts.
I have read that fomites can be a source of transmission, and I have used towels provided by staff at hot springs, and have stayed in a couple of hotels. Again, I can't really see either of those being the cause. Perhaps using a public shower?
I have also read that toilet seats are likely not a cause of transmission, however I would like to point out that the first spot I noticed was in an area where contact with the toilet seat is not uncommon.

Thanks a lot.
