I am a 55 year old female---and since I started going through menopause, I am having VERY bad pain when my husband and I try to have intercourse. It is ruining a wonderful part of our marriage. I saw a breif article in a magazine that said the pelvic wall can drop down and cause this? but heard nothing of what can be done? I hope this question is allowed. I have a male Dr. and just can't bring nyself to discuss this. Thanks:confused:

  • You really need to discuss this with a dr. I am 53 and I was diagnosed with a cystocele (which is a fallen bladder) and I was sent to a uro gyno dr. (a male). I noticed some discomfort during sex. My uterus was fallen too and my cervix was a lot lower into my vagina than normal. When we go thru menopause, and you can look it up, it can cause all kinds of things to happen like this. I had mild stress incontinence also and I was embarrassed to tell the dr about this too. I had it for a couple of years. I was hoping it would go away. stupid me. I had to have surgery. I had a hysterectomy and a bladder suspension and a vaginal vault repair. It was not an easy surgery. He repaired my ureter too. I have to tell you that during the surgery that he accidentally severed my ureter and this still *****s me off. so far I am not incontinent. he supposedly fixed it. but be that as it may, if you are having pain you should have it checked out, because it will not go away. I am having terrible vaginal pain now from lack of estrogen. I am having that checked on monday. I take estrogen but it must not be enough. I will see on monday. are you on any type of hormone replacement? you may be suffering from atrophic vagina also. you may need vaginal estrogen. I am having that problem now. just go to the dr and tell them. it will not go away without outside help. good luck to you and make appt. right away. let me know how you are. I am also having problems with my sex life too so I know how you feel.
