Hi everyone. I recently got screened and came back as positive for chlamydia, which surprised me.
I've had quite a limited past with women I suppose, because my work is my priority and is so demanding but accpet that yes there have been at least two occassions where this could have contracted, it being so common and the fact that it is symptomless in so many cases. I also know you can contract this easily inside a relationship for these reasons, so i wonder about even the possibility of my previous ex from a few years ago doing something I didn't know about, which may have infected me.
Anyway, I take this as a lesson never to take any chances and make the dreaded call to my recent ex (of about 8 weeks).
She is shocked and a little scared, so goes to a same day result clinic rather than having to wait for lab results. We had been together for 18months and had sex frequently in that time, so fully expect her to come back positive either having infected me or me infecting her. She tests and the result is negative, thankfully.
What is the liklihood of a false positive here? My results were lab tested, is there room for error here? This must occur sometime, I suppose. It's just so contageous that I really wonder if she could have avoided it all that time, key thing being an 18month relationship. My reslut also feels strange to me because of a pretty careful past, although as said one exposure is enough.
