Lately (over the past three days) right after my period ended I've been getting more discharge than usual and the opening to my cervix feel swollen on the side further back, but doesn't hurt at all. I have no pain of any kind, no abdominal pain, no pain when urinating, my only symptom is the discharge and swelling.
I'm not sexually active so I can't really think of what might have caused this except possibly that in the middle of my last period I switched tampon brands from a nice brand to the CVS generic because I ran out and needed to get something fast. Could that have caused some irritation? They're the scented kind and it probably uses different scent stuff than my other ones. I have also recently been a little sick, I had a sore throat (but no fever) that turned into a particularly bad cold that didn't seem to feel any better with anything but Sudafed, after just about every other cold med failed to help at all. I don't know if that could be related.
I'm 17 and I live with my mother, and I really don't talk to her much and I'd rather not tell her about this and get her to take me in to the doctor because she wouldn't do it unless I told her exactly why and I really don't want to tell her. We aren't close. The relationship is sort of in a "please just don't talk to me much until I can move out" stage.
Should I wait a little while and see if it clears up on its own or do I *really* need to see a doctor?
